We decided that the most logical first step to take in terms of branding and the promotional side of the company was to come up with a company name. From here it meant that we would be able to create our logo and other promotional material based around the name. My first thought when trying to come up with names was to tie it into the idea of narrative driven animation and use a story telling reference within the name itself. To do this I looked at types of storyarchs that contained interesting words and terms that could help explain our brand but also sound appropriate as a company name. I tried things such as, Daydream Studios, Bright Hero Studios, Calm Myth Studios, Dark Lamp Studios, Blank Screen Studios, Snow Cloud Studios, Road to Trial Studios, Two World Studios and Dark Moment Studios. None of these names really stood out to me at this point, but it was helpful to write down simple ideas so that it could perhaps lead to something better. From here Lauren came up with the name, 'Pocket Protagonists' and that eventually developed into 'Pixel Pocket Studios', a name we all agreed we liked. When we first came up with the final name I liked it because I thought it had a lot of opportunities when it came to branding and using the idea of pixels across all of our companies promotional material.
Having now established a name for our studio it means that we can go off and create all of the promotional material such as the logo, business cards, website and social media. The logo will come first I believe because it will be used on the majority of the promotional material.
